Growing Tomatoes in Sublette County

On Saturday, March 1, from 9 am to noon, Arlinda McLaughlin will teach a class about growing tomatoes.  The class will feature the best tomato-growing strategies for Sublette County’s short growing season in both indoor and outdoor environments.  She will introduce some new seed-starting tips so gardeners can grow their own tomato transplants, and share many different tomato varieties that local gardeners already grow successfully, including some new very short-season varieties.  Fertilizers, soil mixes, and soil amendments are an important part of gardening, and she will share some new ideas to enrich native soils and commercial potting mixtures.  She will showcase several local gardeners’ pollination, trellising, and pruning strategies to promote growth and ripening.   There will also be some great handouts to give away at the class.  Participants can sign up for the class by registering with subletteboces.com.  The cost is $20 per person.
